Cosmic rays hit computer RAM all the time. If your RAM is not ECC protected, it will likely flip a random bit. A single bit in billions of bits. Does it matter? Yes. Yes it does.
To this end, I have written a small C library for the sole purpose of generating the Delaunay triangulation of a colour palette and using the resulting structure to perform barycentric interpolation as well as natural neighbour interpolation for use in colour image dithering. The library and source code is available for free on Github. I’ve included an additional write up that goes into a bit more detail on the implementation and also provides some performance and quality comparisons against other algorithms. As part of its Amazon partnership, OpenAI plans to develop a new “stateful runtime environment” where OpenAI models will run on Amazon’s Bedrock platform. The company will also expand its previously announced AWS partnership, which committed $38 billion in compute services, by $100 billion. OpenAI has committed to consuming at least 2GW of AWS Tranium compute as part of the deal, and also plans to build custom models to support Amazon consumer products.
